Demo of Pencil for Meta Quest 3 released

You have the opportunity to experience a preliminary version of the blended reality drawing program Pencil at no cost. The creators have made it available on their Discord server. Presently, access is restricted to 200 individuals, but it will gradually be extended.

Using Pencil, one can effortlessly acquire skills in proper drawing techniques by following digital instructions on physical paper. Simply lay a blank sheet of paper on a table surface and position a VR controller at the paper’s upper edge. The app then tracks the paper and displays digital components upon it.

While you sketch, you will get both text and voice guidance. You have the ability to digitally modify shading and colors. If you choose to draw freely, you have the option to use virtual objects as templates for your drawings.

The application offers introductory lessons for novice artists to learn drawing. However, it also provides advanced users with tools to enhance their skills. At the moment, there is no specified schedule for the release of a complete version or early access.
