Peer Obtains $10.5M to Grow its AI-Powered 3D Social Platform

Peer Global Inc., which offers a real-time 3D social exploration platform, announced this week that it has secured USD $10.5 million in funding aimed at accelerating the growth of its metaverse game engine platform. The Family Office of Tommy Mai exclusively invested in this round, raising Peer’s total funding to USD $65.5 million, all sourced from angel investors. The latest funding will facilitate increased hiring and the advancement of AI product initiatives.

Peer represents a persistent 3D environment that incorporates exploration aspects reminiscent of Pokémon GO combined with user-generated experiences similar to those seen on Roblox. Participants can design individual online “planets,” which function as virtual realms for interaction, content sharing, and gameplay.

Alongside the funding news, Peer has unveiled “personal planets,” creating 3D interactive environments that aim to fuse exploration, creativity, and social engagement. Developed on its unique metaverse game engine, the platform supports the creation of interconnected games inside a cohesive virtual sphere.

“Peer is at the forefront of a novel digital landscape where AI and 3D technology unite to offer expansive, immersive, and interactive environments,” stated Tony Tran, the founder of Peer. “This is more than just a platform—it’s a reimagining of connectivity, exploration, and creativity, providing a transformative choice against conventional methods.”

Peer distinguishes itself as an alternative to conventional social media, which the company describes as “characterized by linear timelines and passive scrolling.” Instead, Peer provides a 3D environment where engagement is “immersive, not addictive.” Instead of merely scrolling through posts in a chronological flow, users can interact with content within a spatial, immersive setting, moving through a simulated 3D landscape where digital material is situated in contextually relevant locations.

For instance, images taken during an actual hike can be showcased along a virtual path in a mountainous setting that reflects the real-life location, as explained by the company. Peer also employs AI-enhanced spatial interaction models to superimpose layers of immersion, reproducing what was captured, such as the sounds of rustling leaves.

Leveraging AI, users can customize their personal planets with diverse components like landscapes, structures, and interactive elements. Additionally, brands and influencers can establish their own virtual environments using AI-generated content and engage in promotional opportunities, encompassing in-game sponsorships and digital asset development.

Personal Planets on Peer: A Venue for Posting and Playing

With the introduction of personal planets, Peer unveils a 3D iteration of a social homepage, presented as a 3D planet. Instead of a standard profile page, users are provided a library to furnish their planets with flora, fauna, rocks, homes, and beyond. When friends are visiting their planet and moving around, users can witness them in real-time.

Moreover, each mini planet is assigned longitude and latitude coordinates that correspond to Earth’s, implying that when a user shares a photo on their planet, it will be positioned based on its geographical origin, as stated by the company (i.e., an image taken at the North Pole would appear at the matching spot on a Peer planet).

“Current websites, social media platforms, and digital brand experiences are flat. Attention spans are fleeting,” commented Peer investor Tommy Mai. “AI will transition everything into spatial experiences, and Peer is paving the way.”

The Peer app can be downloaded on iOS and Android now. For additional information about Peer and its 3D social platform, please visit the company’s website.
