Batman: Arkham Shadow is coming exclusively to Meta Quest 3 this year, and now we have a new trailer and the first details of the story.

Batman: Arkham Shadow was teased with a short trailer in early May. As part of the Summer Game Fest, Meta presented another trailer that introduces the game’s story. Unfortunately, there is still no gameplay to be seen in this second cinematic trailer.

On the Quest Blog, Meta unveils the initial information about the narrative of the game. Batman is facing off with the Rat King and his loyalists who have unlawfully abducted Commissioner Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent. Their lives hang in the balance as the captors make ominous threats.

Between the events of Batman: Arkham Origins (2013) and Batman: Arkham Asylum (2009), players will get to witness the beginnings of well-known Batman characters like Scarecrow, Harley Quinn, and others.

Furthermore, there are additional insights into the gameplay. Gamers will have the ability to navigate through Gotham City using the Grapnel Gun and silently glide behind foes utilizing Batman’s cape. During close-quarters combat, players will have the option to deliver powerful strikes, deflect incoming attacks, and execute vicious takedowns similar to those seen in Arkham games. Additionally, the batarang and smoke bombs can be utilized. Alongside the combat mechanics, there will be elements of detective work, puzzles to unravel, and the opportunity to explore iconic landmarks.

During the Summer Game Fest trailer, it was announced that the official gameplay trailer would be unveiled at Gamescom. Gamescom is scheduled to occur from August 21 to 25 this year.

You can already add Batman: Arkham Shadow to your wishlist on the Quest Store, as it will be released exclusively for Meta Quest 3 in the fall of 2024.

A potential Quest 3 system seller

Batman: Arkham Shadow is being developed by Camouflaj and Oculus Studios in partnership with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC. The VR game is an official new entry in the Batman: Arkham series and features the same mix of exploration, stealth, and free-flowing combat.

It is one of the first VR games coming to Quest 3, but not Quest 2, and is designed to push the new hardware to its limits.

Androidcentral has interviewed with Camouflaj, in which the studio reveals more details about the story and game mechanics. Below are three images from the official website that look like screenshots, but according to the same, are not representative of the gameplay.
