Home Sports launches today for Meta Quest 3 and 3S. MIXED explored the single-player feature.

The newest release from Resolution Games (Demeo, Spatial Ops, Racket Club) offers five sports right in your living room: pickleball, hockey, bowling, mini golf, and badminton.

To enhance accessibility, the studio employs mixed reality technology. This approach allows you to remain aware of your environment, enabling more free movement without the worry of injury to yourself or others.

The play area can be set up anywhere in the room and can be expanded significantly if space allows. The minimum required area is 2 x 2 meters, but it’s preferable to have a bit more space, as some sports necessitate moving outside the designated playing zone to retrieve a ball, for example.

Numerous modes available

Home Sports provides ample entertainment, whether you enjoy playing solo or with others.

For individual players, there’s a career mode that familiarizes you with the five sports through 53 progressively challenging tasks. Alternatively, you can directly choose a sport and compete against AI rivals (with three difficulty levels) or polish your skills in the Drills and Practice game modes.

For those preferring competition or social gaming, there are online multiplayer and local multiplayer modes for 2–4 players.

So far, I have only experienced the single-player options. However, I believe Home Sports is at its best when enjoyed with friends in the same location. A second Meta Quest 3 is currently on its way to me, and I will share my thoughts on the local multiplayer experience next week.

A refined and inclusive sporting experience

Resolution Games is recognized for developing accessible, vibrant, and family-oriented VR and MR experiences, and Home Sports continues this trend. Regardless of which sport you select, you can engage and enjoy without needing to focus on complicated mechanics.

I found pickleball, badminton, and mini golf the most enjoyable due to their natural and intuitive gameplay. Bowling took some adjustment due to the virtual bowling balls lacking physical weight. As for hockey, I haven’t mastered it yet, but I can see its promise when played with a friend.

I’ve recorded some gameplay footage showcasing the flexibility of the play area and displaying clips from all five sports so you can observe their integration within a physical setting.

Home Sports launches today exclusively for Meta Quest 3 and 3S in the Horizon Store for $20.
