Nimo Planet partners with Rokid to enhance spatial productivity

Nimo Planet Inc., a company specializing in spatial computing for productivity, has recently unveiled the Nimo 1 Core compact computer and its Nimo Operating System (Nimo OS). Additionally, the company has partnered with Rokid, a provider of augmented reality (AR) technologies, to integrate the Rokid Max Glasses into its portable spatial computing offering.

Nimo Planet stated that the combination of the Nimo 1 Core, Nimo OS and Rokid Max Glasses will bring a personalized, multi-screen expansive workspace experience to today’s hybrid workforce.

The collaboration with Rokid will allow users to pair Rokid Max Glasses with the Nimo Core, and aims to offer users more options across spatial computing. Nimo Planet stated that it envisions a future where users can select their preferred AR glasses to use with Nimo OS.

Enterprise customers can purchase the Nimo Core and Rokid Max Glasses bundle for $1,499. Individual consumers, specifically the first 1,000 customers, have the option to pre-order the Nimo Core Limited Edition and Rokid Max Glasses for $799. The estimated shipping time for these pre-orders is 6-8 months.

Nimo Planet provides exclusive hardware and software that enable the use of productivity applications on a small portable computer and a virtual display for personal use. The company’s technology strives to offer a flexible, desk-free setup with multiple monitors, aiming to overcome the difficulties encountered by professionals who work in various locations.

“Nimo Planet’s technology is equipping the modern workforce with the same luxuries of a multi-monitor setup in a desk-free form factor,” said Nimo Planet founder and chief executive officer, Rohildev Nattukallingal. “The current solutions for mobile computing limit our ability to stay efficient, organized, and comfortable while on the go. Nimo is deploying spatial computing in a unique and streamlined way to change this model, providing an enterprise-class workspace that fits in your pocket.”

The Nimo 1 Core device is approximately the same size as an AirPods Pro case. It runs on the Nimo 1 OS, which has a unique rendering system that helps conserve resources by reducing CPU/GPU and memory usage. This allows Nimo OS to support multiple Android Apps, Unity Apps, and Web Apps positioned at different depths simultaneously, as stated by the company.

This allows for up to six high-fidelity 3D screens to be rendered within the physical world. Additionally, Nimo OS supports Stereotype Videos and Photos. The device is powered by a Qualcomm XR2 8-core processor and offers 8GB RAM, 128GB storage, WiFi 6, and Bluetooth 5.1.

Additionally, Nimo OS is capable of supporting Mac and Windows applications through USB-C or WiFi. Users can connect Nimo 1 Core with Mac or Windows laptops and extend up to 5 screens to Nimo Workspaces. The company also noted that it has been granted a U.S. utility patent for its Nimo OS Spatial Workspace and Multi-Window Architecture.

On the AR glasses-side of the partnership, Rokid’s ‘Rokid Max Glasses’ offer 1080p resolution per eye on Micro-OLED lenses that create a 215” virtual screen, with a brightness of up to 600 nits. Weighing only 75g and certified by TÜV Rheinland for eye comfort, the glasses are designed for extended wear without causing eye fatigue.

For device interaction, Nimo Core incorporates a trackpad and an ‘Air Mouse’ handheld pointing device that facilitates access to common productivity applications available on Nimo OS. The system enables intuitive navigation of popular workplace applications and customized screen adjustments, and supports input devices like a Bluetooth mouse, keyboard, and trackpad, according to the company.

Nimo Planet is working on incorporating generative AI into Nimo OS to further enhance user productivity. Built on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and Linux foundation, Nimo OS aims to leverage the stability and versatility of the Android ecosystem to create an intuitive and powerful workspace experience.
