Looking Glass now offers a 27-inch 3D display that, like the other models, provides a sense of depth without the need for glasses.

Looking Glass Factory offers 3D displays in various formats and sizes since 2020. In addition to the consumer Looking Glass Go reviewed by MIXED and the professional 16, 32 and 65 inch models, there is now also a 27 inch model.

According to Looking Glass, the new model offers 5K resolution at a depth of just one inch and can display digital content with a virtual depth of 16 inches.

The display projects between 45 and 100 perspectives simultaneously, creating a seamless 3D effect within a 53-degree cone of vision. This allows multiple people to view 3D content at the same time, without 3D glasses or VR headsets.

Powered by iPads

A special feature of the new display is the ability to control it directly from an iPad. According to Looking Glass, this innovation reduces system costs by approximately 35 percent compared to the previous model. The display is available in both portrait and landscape formats.

The Looking Glass 27″ is designed specifically for developers and enterprises. Compatibility with WebXR and popular 3D content pipelines should enable flexible development. Content can be developed in Unity on the PC and deployed on the iPad.

“The new systems tackle two major requests from our customers: lower overall system cost and a much easier path to getting content onto the display. At the same time, we’ve kept all the power and flexibility needed for displaying full real-time applications and experimental content workflows in 3D. Visual fidelity is improved, deployment is simpler, and the systems run on much more accessible hardware,” says COO Rob Kodadek when asked by MIXED what makes the Looking Glass 27″ different from previous models.

The US price is 10,000 US dollars. There is a pre-order discount of 20 percent until April 30, 2025. Shipping is scheduled to begin in June 2025. The cheaper 16-inch model is also currently available at a discount.

Orders can be placed on the official website or on the website of local resellers.
