March 3, 2025 — Doublepoint Technologies, a leader in gesture technology, has unveiled several announcements today at MWC25 Barcelona, including the introduction of its latest WowMouse Pro app, a collaboration with chip maker Ambiq, and the hiring of former Meta executive Yiannis Pagkalos as the new chief commercial officer.
WowMouse Pro Enhances Gesture Control for WearOS Smartwatches
Building upon the original WowMouse app, which revolutionized Android smartwatches into gesture-based input devices for augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR), Doublepoint is launching ‘WowMouse Pro,’ an upgraded version that provides broader gesture control and personalization for WearOS smartwatches.
New functionalities empower users to:
- Flick to scroll and Navigate pages with a simple wrist flick.
- Double tap to set custom actions for hands-free operation.
- Media mode for controlling music playback through hand gestures.
- Customization options enabling WowMouse Pro to be tailored to individual preferences.
WowMouse Pro is available for download on the Google Play Store at a cost of USD $4.99. Attendees at MWC this week can also experience the app at Doublepoint’s booth (Hall 8.1, 4YFN Stand 8.1B60.12).
“The introduction of WowMouse Pro for WearOS smartwatches is a response to user feedback,” remarked Ohto Pentikäinen, co-founder and CEO of Doublepoint. “Our users sought more power and versatility, and this upgrade fulfills those needs. It represents a significant milestone for us in elevating WowMouse to new heights, further increasing consumer interest in a comprehensive wrist-based gesture control experience.”
Ambiq Partnership Delivers Low-Power Gesture Control
Doublepoint has also revealed a partnership with Ambiq, where the company will incorporate its gesture-recognition algorithms into Ambiq’s low-power system-on-chips (SoCs) to facilitate low-latency gesture control with minimal energy use by utilizing the company’s Apollo510 chip.
“We are very appreciative of the Ambiq team’s collaboration and shared mission,” stated Pentikäinen. “This partnership illustrates the substantial potential for gesture-enabled solutions to redefine how we engage with technology on a daily basis, even in low-power conditions. We are dedicated to developing solutions for wearable devices that push those limits even further.”
“Doublepoint’s advancements in gesture recognition technology open up thrilling opportunities for wearables and consumers,” added Mike Kenyon, EVP of Sales at Ambiq. “We’re excited to collaborate with them to utilize our low-power SPOT platform and bring Doublepoint’s advanced technology to battery-efficient devices.”
Yiannis Pagkalos Appointed as Chief Commercial Officer at Doublepoint
Moreover, Doublepoint has declared the appointment of Yiannis Pagkalos as chief commercial officer to aid its growth and industry partnerships. Pagkalos previously held the position of director of business development and product partnerships at Meta, where he played a key role in the development of Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses in partnership with EssilorLuxottica. Doublepoint noted that Pagkalos also had leadership positions at Google, contributing to projects such as Stadia, Google Home, Chromecast, and Google Fiber.
Located in the U.S., Pagkalos will concentrate on enhancing Doublepoint’s commercial strategy and industry alliances, aiming to accelerate the adoption of gesture control in both consumer and enterprise sectors.
