XRHealth, known for its therapeutic offerings in virtual reality (VR), mixed reality (MR), and extended reality (XR), has announced this week the acquisition of the digital therapeutics firm RealizedCare. Outcome Capital acted as the strategic and financial advisor during this transaction.Â
The RealizedCare platform delivers immersive digital therapeutics tackling chronic pain and mental health issues through evidence-based cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and biopsychosocial approaches. Collaboratively developed with Oxford University, Massachusetts General Hospital, Sumitomo Pharma, and Confluent Health, the interventions offered by RealizedCare present therapeutic experiences, while their AI triage system evaluates patients’ requirements, directing them to the most appropriate digital solutions and escalating cases to healthcare providers as needed.
XRHealth asserted that this acquisition reinforces its reputation as “the largest AI-driven therapeutic XR platform globally,” highlighting plans to incorporate RealizedCare’s scientifically validated strategies for managing chronic pain and behavioral health disorders, as well as to introduce RealizedCare’s triage system into its patient care services.
The acquisition of RealizedCare comes on the heels of the recent November 2024 purchase of NeuroReality, a company focused on therapeutic and rehabilitative experiences via immersive XR gaming. Earlier in 2023, XRHealth also acquired Amelia Virtual Care, known for its virtual reality solutions aimed at mental health practitioners.
With the acquisition, Aaron Gani, Founder & CEO of RealizedCare, will transition to the role of General Manager at XRHealth US. Gani additionally holds the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Digital Therapeutics Alliance.
“We are excited to join XRHealth’s innovative digital therapeutics platform,” Gani remarked. “By merging our triage tool with XRHealth’s state-of-the-art XR and mixed reality technologies, we can broaden access to evidence-based, value-driven care solutions, assisting a greater number of individuals in managing chronic pain and mental health issues.”
“Through the incorporation of RealizedCare’s innovative triage tool and therapeutic options, we are constructing the world’s largest XR healthcare ecosystem,” stated Eran Orr, CEO of XRHealth. “By harnessing the potential of mixed reality, extended reality, and AI-powered insights, we are creating a new frontier of immersive, value-centric care. This revolutionary method will enhance worldwide access to high-quality therapy, equip clinicians with unmatched resources, and ultimately transform how patients experience and engage in their personal healing journeys.”
To date, XRHealth’s platform has been employed by over 2,000 clinicians to treat more than 50,000 patients, completing over 1 million XR therapy sessions globally, according to the company.
