Vuzix Corporation, a provider of smart eyewear, waveguides, and augmented reality (AR) innovations, alongside Mentra, a collective of experts in human-computer interaction, have announced the debut of âAugmentOS,â a universal operating system tailored for smart glasses, including the Vuzix Z100.
Vuzix claims that AugmentOS merges state-of-the-art AI features with a âgroundbreaking development platformâ that comes equipped with an array of functionalities, such as real-time subtitling, instant translation, proactive AI support, smart alerts, AI dashboards, and language learning resources.
All these functionalities are integrated for immediate use, available in version 1.0 of AugmentOS from AugmentOS.org.
Apart from its built-in abilities, AugmentOS offers a development platform that streamlines the creation of smart glasses applications. Vuzix indicated that with AugmentOS, developers can create a single application that operates across numerous smart glasses models, while a variety of AI assistants can function simultaneously, utilizing real-world context to provide proactive assistance to users throughout their daily activities.
In his remarks regarding the announcement, Cayden Pierce, CEO of Mentra, stated: âThis is the moment AI transitions from our phones into our reality.
