Samsung Electronics has revealed a collaboration this week with game developers Nexon Korea and Neople to provide engaging 3D experiences in the upcoming title ‘The First Berserker: Khazan.’
As per Samsung, the 3D components of the game are being specifically crafted and engineered during its development, making use of Samsung’s technology and the sophisticated features of the company’s ‘Odyssey 3D’ monitor to deliver an engrossing 3D gaming experience.
The Odyssey 3D was first introduced at CES 2024 and incorporates light field display (LFD) technology to produce realistic 3D visuals from 2D content employing a lenticular lens on the display’s surface.
When paired with Eye Tracking and View Mapping technology, the display delivers a refined 3D experience sans the necessity for distinct 3D glasses, as stated by Samsung. Eye Tracking assesses the movement of both eyes through a built-in stereo camera, while View Mapping perpetually adapts the image to improve depth perception.
The Odyssey 3D can effortlessly alternate between 2D and 3D modes depending on the user’s choices. Available in 27” and 37” sizes, it encompasses a 4K resolution display, a 1ms gray-to-gray (GTG) response time, and an impressive refresh rate of 165Hz. Moreover, the Odyssey 3D boasts ergonomic features such as a Height Adjustment Stand (HAS) and tilting capabilities.

Through this new partnership, Nexon, Neople, and Samsung have been collaborating intensively to customize the 3D visuals in The First Berserker: Khazan, meticulously modifying them according to the arrangement of characters, environments, and cinematics throughout the gameplay. Samsung commented that this approach has granted developers an “unprecedented” degree of control over the 3D effects.
“This alliance between Samsung and Nexon will offer an unparalleled gaming experience with ‘The First Berserker: Khazan’ on the Odyssey 3D monitor,” stated Yongjae Kim, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “We will continue to forge partnerships with top-tier gaming enterprises worldwide to provide 3D gaming technology that guarantees the highest degree of immersion.”
Samsung noted that by fine-tuning the focal distance for 3D effects on a project-by-project basis, Nexon and Neople seek to create particular scenarios that dictate when and how elements transition to 3D in the game. This initiative mitigates “crosstalk” — a prevalent challenge in 3D displays that can lead to visual distortion — while enhancing the sharpness of both gameplay and cinematic sequences, as per the company’s claims.
“This collaboration signifies a crucial advancement in establishing a competitive 3D gaming model globally, fostering innovation across the entire industry,” remarked Choi Sung-wook, head of the publishing live division at Nexon. “We are thrilled for gamers around the world to engage with the vibrant graphics and complex gameplay of ‘The First Berserker: Khazan,’ made achievable by the advanced technologies accessible to our developers and the industry-leading Samsung Odyssey gaming monitor.”

The First Berserker: Khazan is an intense action RPG (role-playing game) where players dive into the realm of Nexon’s renowned franchise — the Dungeon & Fighter Universe (DNF). The game is scheduled for a global launch on March 28, 2025.
Acknowledged with the ‘Best of Innovation’ award in the Gaming & eSports category at CES last year, the Samsung Odyssey 3D display will ultimately be released globally in April this year, presenting what the company claims as “revolutionary 3D technology” aimed at elevating gaming experiences for players around the world.
